The Conference on Laboratory Instruction Beyond the First Year of College II (the “BFY II” Conference) was held on the campus of the University of Maryland at College Park from Wednesday July 22 to Friday July 24, 2015.
The theme for the conference was "Constructing Great Instructional Lab Experiences."
The BFY II Conference Proceedings are now available thanks to Editor Melissa Eblen-Zayas and co-editors Ernest Behringer and Joe Kozminski.
This conference followed up on the very successful first BFY conference co-held at the University of Pennsylvania and at Drexel University in 2012. Once again, approximately 150 physics laboratory instructors were expected to participate in invited talks, panel discussions, poster sessions, workshops, and breakout discussions. Organized by the Advanced Laboratory Physics Association (ALPhA), participants had the opportunity to learn from one another how to set up environments that promote learning and skill development in the laboratory, and to share new experiments in hands-on workshops. All information, including abstract submissions, the conference schedule, workshop descriptions, poster guidelines, registration, and housing, is to be found at the official conference homepage.
The proceedings of the previous BFY conference are hosted at the AAPT Advanced Labs section of the ComPADRE Digital Library.
